LACTOSE / SUCROSE FREE SPECIAL INFANT FORMULA BASED ON MILD AND IN LINE WITH AUTHORITIES OF NUTRITION
COMPOSITION
CARBOHYDRATE : Dextrimaltose is the source of Carbohydrate, which combats mild sugar intolerance and ensures sustained release of energy. Easily digested and assimilated even in pre-term babies. Glucoamylase and maltase activities remain at higher levels than the more fragile lactase and sucrase enzymes during grade 1 atrophy in sick/pre-mature infants. Thus 100% glucopolymer provides an extra margin of safety for stressed GI Tract.

PROTEIN : Casein is the source and is in the form of sodium caseinate. Assures higher biological value than any Vegetable protein. All the Essential Amino Acids are available in the formula in the natural way. Low Renal Solute Load of the formula ensures better water availability. Because of heat treated casein, Low Curd Tension is ensured.

FATS : Vegetable Oil is the source and matches with ESPAGAN Recommendations with the level of 2.52gm/100ml. In the fatty acid pattern PUFA predominates with MCT, The utilisation of PUFA is done by Carnitine and strengthens the cardiac muscles in pre-mature infants. Thereby resulting in better assimilation and ketone body synthesis is assured with prostoglandin synthesis. Carnitine is not present in Soy Proteins.

E.F.A. : Linoleic Acid in Lactonil provides 2.6% of energy and its per-oxidation is prevented by appropriate levels of Vitamin E present in the formula. This is in line with AAP recommendations.

ENERGY : As per ESPAGAN recommendations any infant formula should provide energy intake between 65 Kcal/100ml to 85 Kcal/100ml. Lactonil meets this recommendation by providing 67 Kcal/100ml.

VITAMINS & MINERALS : vitamin levels are based on the standards of world nutrition authorities like FAO / WHO, AAP and ESPAGAN guidelines, thus ensuring vitamin supply in accordance with paediatric recommendation.

TAURINE : The Taurine level of Lactonil is based on the standard of Taurine present in the breast milk. This is a Sulpha Based Free intracellular Amino Acid which is conditionally essential for conditions like cystic fibrosis and Retinitis pigmentosa. This Amino Acid conjugates with bile acids to form water soluble bile salts. Taurine seems to contain certain forms of epilepsy in Neo-nates and develops A.B.E.R. in pre-term babies.
